AN INTRODUCTION
Many tourists from all around the globe have been visiting Nepal to climb or trek in the Everest region from many years. There is no proper organization to assist them, to help them or to rescue them while climbing. Therefore, on 11th Paush 2057 B.S., Everest Summiteers Association (ESA) was registered in the Kathmandu District Administration Office for the conservation of Mt. Everest as well as to help and assist the mountaineers during need.
OBJECTIVES
To provide necessary compensation, in case of accident while climbing, to the victim or his/her nearest kin as well as for the better education of his/her children by coordinating with donor agencies.

To provide necessary information regarding mountaineering and instruct mountaineers about environmental impact as well as to formulate policies and programmes.

To conduct programmes regarding the bad impact on environment due to the overflow of mountaineers in the Everest region.

To coordinate with sister organizations with same objectives.

To establish an Information Centre, a library and a conference hall in the Base Camp, which helps to organize conferences for the exchange of experiences as well as felicitate the summiteers.

To provide necessary information to the climbers.

To rescue victims immediately, coordinating with authorized institutions, when there is an accident while climbing Mt. Everest.

To keep record of all the climbers and provide it to the related institutions.

To organize seminars for the development of Everest region with summiteers' participation.

To contact and dialogue with the organizations having same objectives.

To establish a fund from cash, donation and assets received from different organizations and make sure they go to proper areas.

To publish newsletters about Mt. Everest & it's Summiteers after taking permission from the respected authorities.

To voice the rights and betterment of climbers and coordinate with the authorities for the action.

To acknowledge the Everest Summiteers Association in the national and international arena.
ACTIVITIES
Since its establishment, ESA has completed various jobs respecting Nation, Nationality, Royal Crown and democracy in every respect.
A grand programme was organized on 16 Jestha 2059 on the occasion of foundation stone ceremony of Late Babu Chhiri Sherpa's statue and museum in Tilganga, Chabhil, Kathmandu.

A cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and certificate of appreciation was awarded to Pema Dolma Sherpa, a woman mountaineer.

On 2059 B.S., Rs. 85,000 was collected and distributed to the flood and land slide victims of Taplejung district.

A seminar was organized on "Role of Mountaineers on Mountain Tourism" on 30 Poush 2059 B.S, participated by many tourism entrepreneurs and high level officers.

Capt. Bed Upreti's new book called "Everest from the Air" was launched in a grand ceremony.

A seminar on "Role of Village Tourism" was organized for the uplifting of urban economy by developing village tourism. Dr. Surendra Bhakta Pradhananga was highly appreciated for his paper presentation.

A friendly football match was organized between mountaineers and sport journalists to mark the Golden Jubilee Ceremony of Mt. Everest Ascent on 18 Jestha 2060 B.S (29th May 2003). Mt. Everest fastest climbing record holder Lakpa Gelu Sherpa was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation. Journalists who played vital role on tourism development were also felicitated.

A grand motorbike rally, participated by the popular mountaineers' was organized for the "Peace and Progress" in the nation in Kathmandu on 5 Bhadra 2060 B.S.

A sanitation programme was organized in the Nagarjun area on 20 Asar 2061 B.S. to increase the public awareness on the occasion of His Majesty's birthday.

In honour of Appa Sherpa; a 15 time Everest conqueror, "Appa Sherpa Boarders Scholarship programme" was established.

ESA participated during the 50th Anniversary and Golden Jubilee of Everest Expedition in 29 May 2003.

On the occasion of Everest day (29th May), a prize of
Rs. 10,000, a gold chain and a letter of appreciation was given to Nawang Sherpa- who summited with a prosthetic leg.

With an estimated cost of Rs. 3.7 million, construction of Statue and Museum of Babu Chhiri Sherpa is being completed for inauguration.
