Tourism industry is the major source of income for a country like Nepal which has tremendous amount of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

Bearing this in mind and the role of tourism on the subsequent promotion of the national income, Everest Summiteers Association (ESA) has been duly established. ESA is backed by many famous Nepali climbers and world record breakers who have risked their lives to reach the highest point on earth Mount Everest, better known to us as Sagarmatha meaning "Face of the ocean".

This website has been developed and launched on 25th September 2005 to provide relevant information and to create an online platform for anyone who is interested to know latest happenings on Mount Everest and the climbing scenario. We will also be bringing out hard-copy publications in the near future.

It is a great matter of challenge for all of us to conserve the Everest area which is playing a vital role to introduce Nepal throughout the world and to attract thousands of tourist every year. We feel that a great responsibility lies with us to find a way to reduce the negative effects which is coming out as a result of growing number of tourists who come every year to caress our mountains. Every year tons of waste materials or garbage is created in the Everest area by the expedition teams. This is posing a serious threat to our mountains and if we don't take necessary steps to stop such hazardous activity, our mountains will no longer be there. Therefore, ESA's one of the major objectives is to stop or reduce the pollution and remove the waste materials in the near future.

The association is also aimed at helping those who are dependent on the risky business of climbing. Hundreds of climbers, expedition staff have lost their lives while climbing. ESA is dedicated to help provide compensation to the climber's family, in co-ordination with the local government and the expedition agencies or sponsors abroad.

ESA with support of His Majesty's Government and Nepal Tourism Board will be able to execute the aims and objectives.

Last but not least, the Association has its aim to promote the Tourism Industry through enough publicity, forums, conventions, symposiums, conferences, seminars, meetings, programs with the foreigners, exchanging experiences with visiting tourists as well as climbers.

Ang Rita Sherpa, a retired veteran climber, who has successfully climbed Mt. Everest 10 times, is the Honorary Member of ESA. Almost all of the members are experienced climbers who have already scaled Mount Everest and some of them are even world record breakers. «Read Ang Rita's story»

To achieve the goals and for the smooth functioning of the association we will all be working actively in sound cooperation for the ultimate welfare of all those who venture for the Everest Expedition.

To conduct it's daily activities, the Association has established its central office in Thamel, a tourist district in Kathmandu city. The Association will maintain records of all the latest developments in the field of Everest expeditions.
